It’s absolutely freaking awesome that Kenosha Kid, Dan Nettles’ excellent jazz band, will be playing live for the screening of “Steamboat Bill Jr.” during the Osborne Classic Film Fest. Dan wrote a score for the film some years back and I’ve seen him and a variety of players perform it live at Cine a few times. Aside from this being just a really funny, excellent film, taking us back in history as though it’s in the room with us, watching it with live accompaniment performed by some of the best musicians in Athens (if not the country) is a treat that needed to be experienced by a much broader audience.

When I saw the Classic Film Fest was getting “Steamboat Bill Jr.” I immediately thought it would be so cool if Kenosha Kid would play. And so they are. Such good news. Spread the word — it’s at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the Classic Center. DON’T MISS IT.
