Via athensview: So I go walkin’ with my camera downtown this morning, and I spot my bud the parrot on the railing at Starbucks. I love this parrot. The camera loves the parrot. What a profile! Anyway, as I’m photographing the parrot, I notice this cool dude chilin’ with a mocha or something and reading a physics book. I ask him whether I can put him in a shot looking uptown on College Ave. No problema. I shoot. Then we talk. Turns out the dude’s reading about acoustical physics, and the subject’s not merely academic for him. Meet Jesse Mangum — musician, composer, and mostly at the moment, studio builder. Jesse is on a mission to recapture the sounds of what he considers the golden age of studio recording — the fifties, sixties, and seventies. In a big building out on the Jefferson Road, Jesse’s more than half done putting together his baby, The Glow Studio. He’ll let us know when the ribbon’s ready to be cut. Can’t wait! Good luck, Jesse!
