I think games are the future in education. We’re going through a rapid transition now. We’re about to leave print and textbooks behind.

Biologist E. O. Wilson, professor emeritus at Harvard University, two-time Pulitzer-winning ant expert who helped develop theories of island biogeography, chemical ecology, and sociobiology.

This is a great interview via NPR with Wilson, conducted by computer game mastermind Will Wright (The Sims, SimAnt).

And right here in Athens this summer, Lucas Jensen, drummer for the excellent Venice Is Sinking band, started up a great new program called GameCamp! based around this very theory. Go Lucas! (note: GameCamp! started elsewhere and Lucas and fellow UGA doctoral student Josh Squires brought it here)
